Aim of the event
The aim of the event is to give local cyclists the opportunity to join our local South West professional cycling team Saint Piran in a social ride around the lanes and roads of Somerset and raise money to support the team as they compete in the Professional calendar of races within the UK and Europe.
The event will take place on 13th October 2019 starting and finishing at The Feed Station, Merriott, our local cycle themed cafe who will be providing excellent home-made refreshments to all riders.
Thanks to the kind co-operation of the Parish Council we have been able to secure the use of the village hall with additional toilets and water.
The ride will consist two options.
1. Ride 1 of approximately 48 miles over two loops of the Somerset countryside
2. Ride 2 of approximately 26 miles over one loop of the Somerset countryside
Ride 1 – will start at the Feed Station and proceed on a loop that will take in Ilminster, Chard and Crewkerne before returning to Merriott. Passing The Feed Station, the riders will continue on to complete Loop 2 - taking in roads and lanes around Langport, Drayton, Puckington and Ilminster before returning to finish at The Feed Station. This will give a distance of approximately 48 miles. The route is available on Strava, link below..
